Eine Reise in eine der Modemetropolen Europas kann als Trip mit Freundinnen vom Grundsatz her einfach niemals falsch sein! Über germanwings blind booking hatten wir das Glück als Ziel Mailand zu „erbuchen“. Im Übrigen wären auch alle anderen Städte, die unter der Rubrik Metropolen von Stuttgart aus zu erreichen sind, Volltreffer gewesen. Aber Mailand hat natürlich als eine der führenden europäischen Modestädte einen ganz besonderen Reiz…wahrscheinlich vor allem für Frauen… Hinzukommt, dass für mich Mailand deshalb eine außergewöhnliche Stadt ist, weil ich während meines Jura-Studiums über das Erasmus-Programm für ein Jahr in Mailand gelebt und studiert habe.

A trip to one of the fashion-metropolis in Europe with girl-friends can never be wrong! We were lucky to get Milan as our destination through germanwings‘ blind booking. Generally all destinations flying from Stuttgart under the category metropolis would have hit the mark. Anyway Milan as one of the leading european fashion-cities has a special charm…especially for women… Furthermore, for me Milan is an extraordinary city because I lived and studied there during my law-studies.

Übernachtet haben wir im Enterprise Hotel , das sich etwas außerhalb vom Zentrum befindet aber mit der Tram ist man dann doch auch in 20 Minuten am Duomo, dem Nabel Mailands. Tramfahren ist bei einem Städtetrip ja ohnehin immer ein Tip, weil man da einfach viel von der Stadt sieht. Das Hotel ist wirklich sehr gepflegt, die Zimmer schön und der Service gut. Insgesamt passt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

We stayed the nights at the Enterprise Hotel, which isn’t right in the centre of Milan, but with the tram it only takes 20 minutes to get right to the Dome, which is the epicenter of Milan. Taking the tram on a city-trip ist always a good thing to do, because you see much of the city. The hotel is really neat, the rooms are comfy and the service is good. All together it is good value for money.

Shoppen in Mailand ist natürlich ein absolutes Muss. Um den Dom herum gibt es jede Menge tolle Shops, vom Designer bis zur Kette ist alles vertreten. Eigenlich kann man vom Castello Sforzesco, eine der mailänder Sehenswürdigkeiten, bis zum Duomo und dann weiter zur Metro-Station San Babila laufen und es reiht sich ein toller Shop an den nächsten. Für mich sind in Mailand natürlich vor allem die italienischen Shops von Interesse: Furla, OVS, JDC, KiKo Milano, WYCON cosmetics etc. Aber auch der Diesel-Shop ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert, zumindest  was das Interieur angeht. Natürlich bin ich auch fündig geworden…

Shopping in Milan is a must for everyone. Around the Dome there are a lot of really nice shops, from designers to chains everything is represented. Actually you can walk from the Castle (Castello Sforzesco), one of the historic must-sees in Milan, to the Dome and then further along to the metrostation San Babila and you will find one great shop after the other. For me the most interesting shops are the italian shops as for example Furla, OVS, Kiko Milano, WYCON cosmetics etc. But also the Diesel-shop right infront of the metrostation San Babila is worth a visit. And surely I found a few things….

Essen müssen wir ja alle mal was, aber in Italien ist das immer ein besonderes Erlebnis: Absolut zu empfehlen ist der Stadtteil Navigli, durch den der Fluß Naviglio fließt. Auf beiden Uferseiten des Flußes reihen sich Unmengen von Resaturants und Bars. Allein der Flair ist es wert sich den Weg mit der grünen Metro-Linie zu Porta Genevoa zu machen. Ein kleiner Tip für alle, die tatsächlich ins Enterprise Hotel gehen (oder in der Nähe von der Metro-Station Domodossola nächtigen): Das Marcellino Pane e Vino, zu Fuß nicht mal 5 Minuten vom Hotel entfernt befindet sich ein schmuckes kleines Restaurant. Das Essen ist ein Traum, die Preise sind wirklich absolut ok, das Ambiente modern und gemütlich und Touris sind hier Mangelware. Als wir da waren, waren wir die einizigen Nicht-Italiener. Und das will man ja auch irgendwie.

Everybody has to eat at some point of time, but in Italy eating is always a special occasion. For restaurants I can absolutely recommend the Navilgli-quarter. A little river called Naviglio runs through this part of town and on both sides of the river you will find beautiful restaurants and bars. The flair is worth the way to Porta Genova by taking the green metro-line. A little hint for everyone who actually stays in the Enteprise Hotel (or close to the metrostation Domodossola): The Marcellino Pane e Vino is a cute little restaurant. It takes only a 5-minute-walk from the hotel. The food is like a dream, the prices are absolutely alright, the ambiance is modern and cosy and tourists are spare. When we were there, we were the only non-italians. And that’s what we want, somehow.

Eine Sehenswürdigkeit Minimum muss sein. Wir haben uns dafür entschieden den Duomo zu „erklimmen“. Ein Traumhafter Blick auf die Stadt und zudem ist die Architektur des Duomos sehr beeindruckend. Kosten 8 Euro zu Fuß, 13 Euro mit dem Aufzug. Tickets gibts auch im Internet – erspart einem unnötige Wartezeit…

At least one tourist attraction is compulsory. We chose to „climb“ the Dome. A beautiful view over the city is what you get. Also you will see the impressive architecture of the Dome. Costs: 8 Euro to walk, 13 Euro if you take the elevator. Tickets are available on the internet – it saves you unnecessary waiting time…

Aufpassen sollte man bei der Wahl des Metro-Tickets. Wir hatten ein Wochenticket (Preis 10 €). Suppersache dachten wir…falsch gedacht…Das Ticket muss man jeden Tag abstempeln, was uns nicht klar war. Wir haben es nur am ersten Tag abgestempelt. Am zweiten Tag sind wir kontrolliert worden… Der mailänder Kontrolleur kennt da nix: 36 € Strafe pro Person… Also am besten immer ein einfaches bigletto für 1,50 € kaufen…Oder sich vorher im Internet informieren.

You should be carefull by chosing the right metro-ticket. We had a ticket for the week (price: 10 Euro). Great deal… we thought… wrong! What we didn’t know: The ticket has to be stamped every day. We stamped it only on day one. The second day we clahed into a ticket inspector… The ticket inspectors of Milan don’t care at all: 36 € penalty per person… So the best thing is actually to take a single ticket for every ride, which costs only 1,50 €… Or you check on the internet before travelling.

Insgesamt ist Mailand immer eine Reise wert. Jeder der denkt Mailand bestehe nur aus Nebel, Dreck und Gucci-Taschen, der kann sich auf jeden Fall eines besseren belehren lassen, wenn er der Stadt eine Chance gibt.

All together Milan is always worth a trip. Everybody who thinks of  fog, dirt and Gucci-bags while thinking of Milan, will change their opinion after having given the city a chance.
